7/19/11

The topic of today's post is going to be my birthday and what I want.  What I really want is a Keurig but my mom said that is not a birthday present since Chris can use it also.  Ok, fine but I was really psyched about it.  Whatevs, I was.  I even had the sugar free syrups I wanted picked out.  Yes, I could order one today on amazon and probably will soon but it is always more fun when it is a present.

So back to what I should ask for.  I honestly have no idea.  I will need new clothes for fall since I haven't been this size in years but there isn't a whole lot out yet.  I am also a half of a shoe size smaller so maybe I will go pick out some boots.  I think I was so excited for the stupid Keurig that nothing else that I think of coming close in my head.  I do want a bottle of Clinique's Dark Spot Corrector but seriously?  That is a sillier present than the coffee maker.  Maybe a new purse will catch my eye at the outlets this weekend but I end up with a purse for every holiday, not that it's a bad thing but still I want something different this year.

So that is my dilemma for the day.  Tough life, huh?

Dear A Feast for Crows,

I am still reading you!  If I wasn't dying to read the next book which I have seen good reviews for I would have given up completely by now.  Please get better soon, thanks.

9 months

Stats:
Height-28.25 inches
Weight- 21 lbs 2 oz

My little man went from the 10th percentile in height to the 47th!  Holy growth spurt batman. He is now pretty much average for everything which is nice that his weight is starting to balance with his height. Oh big news on that- he has now slimmed enough that he can get his feet into his mouth, much to his amusement.

He now has 4 teeth! The top two and the bottom two, the bottom ones were a pain on him coming in but we didn't even realize he was teething the top ones until he stuck my finger into his mouth one day. Look mom, I have two more teeth. You idiots didn't even realize it.

We are rolling, army crawling, babbling, and trying to walk on our own. I love watching him pull himself up on Chris when we hang out in bed on the weekends. He's up, oh he flung himself onto the mattress again. He thinks it is a hysterical game until we get out into the living room and he tries to do it onto the couch and then plops onto the floor. I am waiting for the day when he nails his head on the coffee table. It's bound to happen.

Food, well Jax is clearly related to us as he loves food. I am determined, well as much as I can be for him to like all sorts of foods. We grew up on pretty bland food because my siblings revolted against all flavors and it wasn't until I met Chris that I started branching out. His recent favorites are guacamole, cumin seasoned beef(won't eat hamburger meat), cantaloupe, watermelon, hates eggs and has warmed up to peaches. His is still getting periodic rashes so we are sticking to the one new thing per week to make sure it is all environmental and nothing food allergy related. I was sort of worried about his eating because he just wasn't getting anything but purees and would gag on solids and then one day he was off to the races. He also never understood the sippy cup but took to a straw in minute. In a pinch we have put formula into his cup and he slurped it up without thinking twice. The only problem was that he couldn't drink it quick enough.

I got an invite for Google+ and I started setting that up. I think I will eventually can facebook in favor for this. I could have both but let's not get crazy here. I like the circles concept and that you can specify which circle you want to post photos and posts to.  I used to feel like I had to friend everyone who sent me a request through facebook and now looking at it I probably haven't talked to half of them in 15 years so I am going to limit to Google+ to people I actually talk to whether it be online or in person.

Gotta run, I think with me going to Google+ I will remember to blog more!

7 months

I don't have stats or pictures yet!  I am slacking big time.

This month wasn't an interesting as the past few months.  One quick hospital visit for wheezing and an ear infection but other than that Jax has been doing really well.  We are still nebulizing him three to four times a day and I am so looking forward to the day that he will start taking his albuterol via an inhaler if this doesn't go away. I had a long talk with his pediatrician last Friday that put me at ease about his whole breathing issue.  Well the first thing I didn't know was that an ear infection can cause wheezing.  Jax started wheezing pretty bad again last Wednesday but there was nothing else wrong so my first thought was this really is asthma and not reactive airway disease.  Bummer.  The kid had no fever, wasn't pulling at his ear, nothing but at least now I will know if he is wheezing for no reason it is probably an ear infection.  He also told me that the earlier in life they have wheezing the more likely that they will grow out of it so time will tell but he reassured me that as soon as we can get him old enough for more meds there are a ton of preventive things out there for him to take.

He also grew 3/4 of an inch in two weeks at the beginning of April.  :fist pump:  I knew he would grow taller one of these months.  He didn't really gain anything at all but he wasn't eating much with the parainfluenza so I wasn't surprised about that plus once you see his cheeks you will know if he misses a few ounces here and there its not a big deal.  Speaking of fat rolls, you can actually see his knees.  It is so cute.  There is still a huge fat roll over his wrist but I am sure we will get a glance at them one of these months.  He still isn't rolling from back to tummy but he rolls from side to side trying to propel his chunky but over.  Jax is all star pro at sitting unassisted and playing with toys.  I can walk out of the room at this point and not worry about him falling over which is fun.  He is so much more portable now.  I love having him sit in a high chair when we go out to eat, he is hysterical.  Actually I love all of it, it is so much fun!

We took our first family trip to the beach this weekend and I forgot my memory card for my camera.  DUH!  I ran to a few stores and ended up with a disposable and it is really hard to find anywhere around me that develops those anymore but I will continue my quest tonight because I am sure there are some adorable pictures on there.  He seemed to like the sand and was on a quest to eat it of course.  We laid on the beach for an hour or so and then shopped on the boardwalk and went to the outlets.  Our summers always seem to fill up so this year Chris and I are going through our calendar and marking off days we are going and that will be the end of it so it won't be like every other year and we wonder where our summer went in September.

I am currently on my third round of steroids, antibiotics, and a new allergy medicine.  This spring has already been a ever living loving disaster where my allergies are concerned.  I just can't clear out.  It's annoying, if this doesn't work then they are sending me to an allergist.  In birth control news my IUD is fantastic, my period finally stopped and never started back up.  Yay!  I am still having an iron issue so I need to run in for blood work again next week to see where we are at.   My little OCD/anxiety issue has now also calmed down between going off of the pill and starting a low dose med.  It is so nice to have your mind not running a million miles an hour worrying about bad things.  Not counting is nice too plus my bitchiness level has gone way down so I am sure everyone around me is thankful that I sought out some help.

Back to work!  Have a good day!

We made it through the week

It was a short week but we managed to make it through the week!  I thought there was no way in hell daycare wouldn't be calling for us to come pick up Jax.  He was overly cranky Monday and Tuesday but as of last night I would say he was in a better mood than he has been in a long time...maybe before he had RSV.  The steroids really did the trick and we are successfully weaning him off of the albuterol and last night neither one of us had to get up because of a crazy coughing fit.  We may actually try and put him back in his crib tonight.

His trick of the week is blowing bubbles and making fart noises all.day.long.  It is hysterical so now Chris and I throw a fart noise in to our conversations and then he does it back.  So funny.

My chubbster is growing finally!  He has been measured twice since his six month appointment since he has been sick and he grew 3/4 of an inch since the 4th of April.  I noticed that his gymboree pants that were a bit tight around the waist aren't anymore but never would have guessed he grew that much.  His weight has pretty much stayed the same which isn't surprising as he wasn't eating much for a week or so.

Chris and I are also feeling much better.  I still sound like a man but I think allergies have a lot to do with it and as I am already on two things there isn't much more I can do right now.  The weather channel said we have high pollen again so it's no surprise and maybe with all of the rain we are supposed to get this weekend I will get a reprieve.

We are going to Friendly's tomorrow night with Adam and the girls.  Yay!  The last time they saw Jax he was only a few weeks old and now he will be sitting in a high chair eating puffs.  Time flies!

Hospital Visit Round 2

The first time Jax was admitted to the hospital I was all "OMFG, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit."  Then you are there for four days and get into the swing of things.  You realize it's the best place for your kiddo to be when he can't keep up his oxygen at night so round 2 went pretty smoothly.

Last Tuesday daycare called me saying that Jax was having a hard time breathing.  Lovely.  I run over and grab him, he was just wheezing but I took him to the doctor anyway.  At this point it was just a wheeze, but much worse than the week before so he was put on oral steriods.   Chris stayed with him the next day just to make sure everything was ok and by the time I got home Jax was coughing his poor head off.  I called the nurses line and as soon as they heard him they said to take him in.

Off to Christiana we went and as soon as those nurses heard him while we were waiting in line we were pulled back and given a room.  They did neb after neb and we still could not get him to calm down.  They finally gave him a neb treatment with epinephrine and then 3 nebs of albuterol and he stopped coughing.  We were admitted at 4 am and then he was hooked up to the oximeter which read a lovely 89.  Sweet.  Jax was given oxygen while he slept and we were out 24 hours later when he could stay above 93 while he slept.  I guess the steriods just needed some time to work.

Seeing four doctors in the span of a day and a half can get annoying as they all have differing opinions on laryngomalacia and what it does to the airway.  The first doctor we saw once we were admitted didn't know he had laryngomalcia and said his admit was a "soft" one but as soon as we told her that her demeanor changed(thankfully, it was 4:30 am and I was ready to bust a cap in her rude ass).  She believes his current problem has to do with allergies and a virus which is all made worse by his reactive airway disease and the narrowing of his airway that laryngo causes.  Now before her no one ever said that laryngo causes a narrowing of the airway, I only heard that the tissue covering the vocal cord flaps around.  She also doesn't recommend giving albuterol to patients with laryngo because it just makes the tissue even flappier.

The two residents we saw didn't have an ever living loving fucking clue as to what was going on and said they didn't see any reason he was even admitted.  I was really tired so I decided that saying "if an infant can't keep his O2 above 93 they need to be hospitalized" wouldn't help this situation.  Then the head peds person agreed with doc 1 about laryngo making everything worse but disagreed with giving albuterol since it seems to help.  Yeah, so I have no idea what is going on there.  At this point he had also had the RSV test again and a chest x-ray which both came back negative.  The day after we got out the doctor called us and said his parainfluenza test came back positive.  I had no idea wtf that even was so I had to look it up and I guess that is where I got my bronchitis from:) and they must have been right about him having "a touch of croup."

He is back at daycare and we are all back at work.  I have basically pulled every muscle in my lower back and stomach from coughing so I am not the peachiest peach today.   I am so glad it is a short week as we are all in need of some r and r!

6 month stats

Height- 25 inches-10th percentile
Weight- 17 lbs .5 oz 50th percentile
Head Circ- 35th percentile

I have a little, fat peanut:)  He is moving on up on the height chart finally!  The doctor was a little concerned about how much weight he has gained but what can you do, he will lose it when he becomes more mobile.  He said he should be spending more time in the jumperoo or walker...but yeah my child is too short for the walker so it is what it is for now.  I would rather have him chunky than worrying like I did when he was first born about how skinny he was.

He is teething, gums are nice and swollen but nothing is coming through yet.  He is so miserable at times and he is not an unhappy kiddo by any means so hopefully whatever in there that is really bothering him will come through soon.

Back to work!
